For quite some time now, MTN BIS speed has been virtually non-existant around Durban's northern suburbs from about 6pm to 11pm, every night! This problem my not be restricted to MTN, or even BIS and could be 3G in general, but MTN BIS (at least on one phone in particular) is getting unbearable. Outside of these peak times, connection is fine.

At this point, switching network/phones is not viable. All I want to know is if anyone else in the area experiences something similar, and if MTN is planning on doing anything about it?

its not just durban...its everywhere...after 6 in the morning in our area u can forget about BIS...after 6 in the evening..some respite during midnight surfer..if u want good BIS get up like 1 o clock in the morning...excellent sppeds i tell u

I'm not even talking surfing though. Something as simple as sending/receiving a BBM can take an hour to go through!

Clearly there's some oversubscription in various areas, but is this the fault of the service provider(s), or BIS?

Don't think they care really. Targets is what they aim for. More bonuses.
