Hi All,

Does anybody have idea about what will be the penalty charges for cancelling telkom mobile 24 month contract after 14 months?

I am on Internet 10+10 GB package.

Did anybody do this before?

Also do you know what is the procedure for changing the debit order bank account/

Thanks.

Thanks.

I did phone the number.

Changing the bank details for debit order is straight forward. Call center agent has updated the bank details.

Penalty charges are calculated as below.
Number of outstanding months X subscription fee+ R800 admin fee.

The funny thing is, The call centre agent says that I do not need to pay any penalty because my contract was taken in Dec 2011.

But I have extended my contract around August 2013 with a free 10 Gig night surfer data.

As per the call center agent, he does not see anything like that and I can cancel my contract anytime as it shows Dec 2011 as the start date.

Telkom mobile,

Can you please confirm this?

I am going to send you a pm with my number.

Thanks.

Call Support 081 180 maybe they can help you.

I will be looking into this soon as well, really unfortunate. For almost a year now the signal has been pathetic, even had them out here to test the signal, they saw for themselves how the numbers jumped around but nothing happened. It gets really bad at peak times which makes it unusable for like 90% of the time.

I can't even connect from home. It worked fine for the first 2 months then slowly started deteriorating.
The wcdma clearcom router they gave me is swollen from how hot it gets. I've had it replaced before.

I'm not going to be paying any penalties for cancelling. They offered me wcdma service in my area and it does not work at all any more.

Someone from their retention department called me a few hours ago, promising to email me and assist. I guess I can expect that mail sometime in 2016?

Pathetic service, I'm not even surprised.

If your ISP can't deliver acceptable service you are entitled to cancel at no cost to yourself other than those relating to hardware. My dad cancelled a Cell C contract earlier this year and just had to hand his phone back in. I know people who have cancelled MTN and Vodacom contracts for the same reason, and only had to return the device.

Play your cards right. You have rights as a consumer.

Puzzling, I also got the same call when they offered the extra 10 and was also told that it doesn't exist.

Maybe they're canvassing to see if customers would be interested?

I'm keen to take over your contract. Get in touch

If he does takeover your contract. Make sure you have a copy of his id, proof of address, salary advice etc and banking details.. Phone Telkom Mobile so they can forward you a template he has to fill.. Once approved the mail him the sim card.
