Penguins at Boulders

Are they always there? Would hate to go all the way and they've gone off somewhere.

And are you allowed on the beach with them?

Do you guys remember Pingu? That penguin that used to pee all over the place.

They are always there, there's a breeding program also which you can go look at and yes your are allowed to walk on the beach. Just don't pet them, they can get agressive.

Yes, one of Cape Town's premier attractions. I always take visitors there, as penguins are more reliable than the Table Mountain Cableway.

The main colony is at Foxy Beach.There you can have a walk on the Boardwalk and view the main Penguin colony.

Boulders is the beach for human folk to go and enjoy the beach and have a swim.There are some penguins there that will sometimes come and join you while you are having a relax on your towel.

Just don't be fooled into paying. If you see a gate where they're taking money, keep walking along the boardwalk, through the carpark at the other end, until you get to the "free" beach where the "free" penguins are literally waiting for you to trip over them.

I've never swum there, but I have seen penguins there.

Abzo, it's a relatively small beach. You have to pay to get onto the beach itself (SANParks fee). It's worth it though because where else can you actually swim with penguins?
I don't think you pay to go on the boardwalk to look at the colony.
