hmmm on par with an fx 55?

come in come in youve just arrived back to planet earth sir

"The Final Word
Without even discussing added benefits of the Asus CT-479 adapter, Intel’s Pentium-M 770 is a very impressive processor on its own merits. The added clock speed and front side bus speed over previous generation Pentium-M processors allow for sizable performance gains, allowing the Pentium-M 770 to provide better gaming performance compared to the much more expensive Athlon64 FX-55 and Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processors, while at the same time consuming about half as power and running on near silent cooling methods. While the Pentium-M still is lacking in terms of 3D rendering and video encoding performance, the Pentium-M 770 still maintains very solid numbers in these areas as well. The overclocked performance of this chip simply can’t be denied either – it provides very impressive performance when pushed to the limits. "

Well the Pentium M chips are awesome but if you buy a NEW laptop NOW and you dont go for a Core Duo chip I think it might be a mistake.

What are you paying for that Laptop?

Hey Angellus, I hear what you saying however I dont really have room to play as it's the corporate standard (Dell D410) and the M 770 is the best processor for that laptop. Cost was around R16 000

so basically what they saying if you dont want to game and watch video's then this cpu is as good the fx 55
so then yes go for it

yea well amd better do something because i dont wanna have to buy intel ever :(

thanks for clearing all that up

do these cpu work in desktop pc's and if not how come?
Theoretically yes, but actually no as there's a shortage of boards for CPU's ..but a few of the bigger brands are wising up, so we'll round that out to a "definite maybe!" :D

As per my earlier reply, the D410 is our corporate standard so I CANNOT select another Dell laptop. I'm going for the best processor which you can get for the D410. The D410 is also smaller / lighter which is more inportant to me as I spend 1/2 of every month on planes.

Aha, my bad. I thought you simply said Dell was the standard.
