Why not? Do you think if EE goes belly-up, funds invested through the platform, will be lost?

No, not necessarily. But, I do know in the UK, when the same type of company did start going belly up, some directors started selling off shares without clients knowing it, stole billions and ran. Most clients lost all their investments. Only got back what UK authorities insured. Not sure how much SA authorities ensures for you.

However, users will not differentiate between a mandatory Thrive fee and a platform fee. It is the same thing for them, after all.

R25 times 12 annually vs 0.5% annually is nowhere near the same thing, that's thousands of ZAR different for even a modest portfolio

Well, you do not have to go far... search for and read up on MF Global and see what happens when these companies hit liquidity issues and need to source additional money to keep the boat floating.

Does not mean they can not get into financial trouble and do the same. The risks are always present.
