So my revised terms of employment has my annual performance bonus as 20% of my annual gross. It was previously an amount agreed upon during my performance evaluation, but my manager said that it would be easier this way for both of us as it will always be linked to my salary. I said that I'd think about it and get back to him. For you guys who earn performance bonuses, would you say that this acceptable?

Yes.

20 % is better than 0 %.

I have a performance based contract that is subject to company targets and am are lucky to even see R1.

20% is very good and the fact that it's linked to your salary and not a central pool is even better

:mad:ya lucky, we supposedly have individual performance bonnuses and when it comes time to pay, we don`t get cause the department didn`t make target. wtf :wtf:

Yeah thing is in the past I was usually able to negotiate a bit more than that, but that meant a few meetings and negotiations - a bit of an administrative hassle. I'd rather have a fixed percentage as it is more convenient, but was looking for an idea as to whether the offer is a good one or not.

That is more than acceptable. Most companies give a 13th check and that's if you lucky.

20% of gross is a good KPI incentive.

In my case, I get a 13th cheque and then also a KPI incentive equal to 15% of my annual gross. In that you can score between 80% and 120% of the individual targets set. There are roughly 8 individual KPI's ranging from very high level financial results on the one end of the scale, to low level 'easy-to-achieve-and-managible' ones.

What is nice about working on %'s, the percentage of your target is debated in another forum altogether. The negotiations move away from the money aspect, and is more focused on the KPI's and therefore more focused on what needs to be done. Another thing that I must say our company did well, was to implement KPI's which are cross functional, ie. all employees being measured on efficiencies as well as working capital. In this situation when you make a decision, you need to weigh up the options and make a call which is best for the company, and not necessarily for your function.

geez...
I recently got a 1% increase. my manager actually apologized when he gave me the letter, then sent me an email apologizing again. Im months away from my CCIE security and I know i am one of two holding the security team and the security part of the data centre of the company i work for together.

I would say unless you are absolutely ridiculously amazing, you should be super happy you get 20% performance bonus.

...or, you just found a company that puts a value on happy employees.

This year I'm getting R2000.00. As with ALL the employees :(

Sent from my GT-I9000

Depends on what the gross is? ... Based on my gross salary it would be quite alot ... lol take it regardless :)
It's a fair amount, about 10% of my bond which is where I'm probably going to dump most of it.

Guess it's a good deal then, thanks for the feedback guys :)

Thats a decent bonus, like 14.4 cheques. We get up to 100% per quarter but its usually more like 60-70%
