Hey guys, I posted something similar before but didn't really get any substancial answers.

I recently upgraded to Win 7 X64, Core 2 Duo 3 Ghz, 4 GB DDR3 and Gigabyte S series MB. I have 9800GT, 550W PSU and 3 X 500GB HDD. After initially installing the new components and OS, the machine was lightning compared to my old P4 and was humming when gaming online.

Gradually the performance seems to have tired and now takes >30s when quitting MW2. (It used to be instantaneous, but now there is a black screen for a while then shows desktop but unable to click on anything before the CPUs start responding again...)

When playing MW2 online and I am hosting it used to load pretty quick and players were able to join no problem. Now, however, it takes forever to load (people waiting for me goes to "awaiting connection... 18 before joining - some even timeout)

Auto updates are active on the OS and downloads updates quite regularly. Previous recommendations was to uninstall AVG, which I have done and am now using Security Essentials from MS.

I have defragged - although OS has only been running since March and I have not really installed many apps mostly games. (TW 08, Crysis Warhead, Bad Company 2, MW2, C&C Tiberium, Borderlands, COD4) This has all been installed to C directory, but there is still ample free space. Should I uninstall and install to another partition, maybe?

Any advice pls?

Thanks, appreciated!

Found my problem. For some reason 2 out of my 4 GB RAM stopped working in the current slot (seems like MB problem) switched slots and is working fine now. Performace restored. :)
