Performance Q?

Juggs(:) ),not a professional clocker by a long here but Ive played a bit and there are 2 schools of thought here.
Looser timing and higher speeds (Mhz..) or tighter timings and rated speeds or less.
I have found that rated speeds and tighter timing are more beneficial on my setups.
Also found that good branded ram is prferable when playing as the normal run of the mill stuff wont clock or tighten timings as readily as say Corsair or teaMXtreme (mention these as it is what Im using) My Transcend flea market dimms are good at std everything only though.
The best ram i.m.h.o that I have seen in a while are Corsair XMS-2 ddr2-667 ! Old stuff but man,do they perform !
2.1 volts , 935 Mhz at 4.4.4.10 timings. T2.
CPU at 30G,s.

Not a clocker?

Holy cow! I have the same processor as you and it's standard speeds are 2.4GHz ;p
Very stable under pressure... could run mine at 2.8GHz without changing the heat sync. (Have a "Coolermaster Air cooled thingie")

I used to swear by Kingston RAM... for the average user, who doesn't fiddle, Kingston RAM has never given me a second of hassles EVER.

Corsair I rate is the best "performance" RAM for gamers... Stable, looks bling with the standard heat syncs on... can be overclocked to ****!

Haven't really fiddled with RAM timings myself... I always overclocked to get games to run smoother when I didn't have enough cash to buy the UBER GFX cards... but to my limited knowledge, the motherboard plays a HUGE role... some Mobo's don't have the capacity to and from the RAM to fully harness the insane clock speeds that were achievable when we moved to DD2.

Interested in the timings myself.

Juggy without going into the technical definition of it (of which I am not qualified)
1T or 2T is in general the delay between the issue of commands, and the return result. Its a wait sate if you will.

This has nothing to do with the RAM per se but more the memory controller on the system. The very same set of RAM that runs 4-4-4-12 2T 800MHz on a P35/P45 motherboard could run on an nForce 680/780 at 4-4-4-12 1T 800MHz. It all has to do with how the controller is configured. P45 boards are virtually incapable of 1T, yet X48 boards only seem to like running 1T (I'm talking here DDR3 especially)

In general 1T is better than 2T for performance, but on a given chipset you may only be able to run 800MHz at 1T while you can run 1,200MHz at 2T. IT all really depends on the Memory controller

Thanks, I've got it at 5-5-5-12 T1 982mhz currently and the CPU at 7.5x410 which isn't too bad I guess. Ram is at stock voltage and CPU is at .075 higher.
