What I meant was this, if they are taking the hardware back for re-use or distribution to a different staffer, then you should be able to wipe the computer with no problems. They will simply reinstall it for the new user. I would wipe it completely and let them set up the computer from scratch. I don't care why your dad wants it deleted permanently. I would urge him to simply format the machine and if it would ease his mind zero out the drive...

Not allowed to format it thats why i'm just needing recommendations of a good file eraser.

At the command prompt,
type copy con a and press enter
then press the letter a
Next press the F6 key
type copy con b and press enter
then press the letter a
Next press the F6 key
type copy con b and press enter
then press the letter a
Next press the F6 key
type copy con a.bat and press enter
Now type the following three lines and then press the F6 key
copy a + b c /a
copy b + c a /a
copy c + a b /a
To run this just press the letter a and enter while in the command box and keep pressing it until you run out of disk space. this will totally remove any deleted files you have on your machine.
Of course you are going to have to delete a b and c files after you are finished to free up the space, but then you knew this already.

I recon you use eraser, you can set a list of specific files and the method you want to use to overwrite them. Just doing the specific files will be much quicker than erasing all the free space once you've deleted them.
Even overwriting specific files can take ages, depending on the method (number of passes etc) and size of the files.
