Hi all

I installed a HDD with vista loaded onto it. It was in a previous box that I used for torrents and the mobo blew.

Its in a box with XP installed but I can access the user files on it. I dont have user permission. How do I dissable it. The security tab doesnt appear on it when I right click on it.

Windows XP pro if that helps

IIRC the security tab won't be visible if it's a FAT32 drive. It needs to be formatted as NTFS in order to make use of NTFS permissions.

So the first thing to check is if your drive is formatted as FAT32 or NTFS.

Im sure its NTFS...It was used as the master drive for a vista box. but ill check

A friend took it home and fixed it for me. Thanks for all the help anyways.

So no idea what the problem was then? The fix would be handy so we can learn what to look out for if we encounter such an issue ourselves. :)
