oms why didnt they tell me lol

well like ive said before i had this problem with bf 2 that an hour into the game it would start running slow

i changed cpu ram and video card, could the motherboard be the cause of my problem?

Dual Channel means your memory interface is 128bit instead of the normal 64bit.

If you motherboard (or processor in case of AMD) supports it, it means you can take two memory sticks/modules of same size and specifications, and if you put them on the right slots in your motherboard you get double the memory bandwith.

For example, when you have a Pentuim 4 800MHz FSB processor, and you put two 512MB DDR 400MHz memory modules in the right slots, they add up to giving a throughput similar to if its 800MHz, thus supllying the processor with lots of memory bandwith that it can effectively use.

Killadoob, if you go look at AMD 754 and 939 reviews you'll see that the dual channel only helps like 10%. Something else is wrong...

Dual channel doesn't affect the operating speed of the memory (400Mh single channel, but 800MHz Dual Channel), but rather the bit width of the bus.
DC allows 128-bit as said, whereas single channel is 64-bit only.

10% diffeence? Dion't think so.
If you use 3DM2K1 or Superpi even to gauge performance you'll see 939 Dual Channel Athlon64 3200+ beat a sinle channel Athlon64 3700+.

On a single channel systme you need a good 400MHz advantage in real terms to match a dual channel system.

ie, I'd take a Venice 3000+ anyday over and above a single channel 3400+ without blinking. :)

Seeing that the subject of this thread is "Person"

I wanted to ask....Person if I find a Spelling error on your site do i get a prize :D hahahhaha

No, I know there are some just dont have to time to check it all. Adding more products or check spelling (which would you have?)

Check spelling whilst adding products.

Hold on supersunbird. You need to calm down.
I understand you love your 3400+ and so did I when I had one. But let me tell you what happened when I had a 3400+.
It was hot and was in general crap compared to the Winchester 3200+ I went too after it.

My said 3400+ was paired with a stick of Kingmax DDR500 at 2.5-4-3-7 @ 533MHz or so. I was also outfitted with the DFI Lanparty LanParty 250GB and I was running about 2.6GHz 24/7 and even when benching. I was getting a SuperPi 1M score of 39seconds or so. Moving to the SLI-DR and a set of Twister Pro BH5 @ 2-2-2-5 @ 200MHz and winnie 3200+ scored me 37seconds. And my clock speed was 2.0GHz.

AM3 went from the 50K region to 55K or so...
3DM2K1 went up from the late teens to 21K most of the time...

pont is the 3400+ had a crap core be it in the form of the C0 or CG stepping.

A single channel system at 3GHz is a waste of time compared to a DC system at 2.5GHz even. I know this because I went on to take the fastest 66GT in the country with a single 66GT and a dul channel 3200+ CPU and went on to record a Top10 SuperPi 1M with a Venice 3000+. All this would not be possible with a single channel system.

And no I won't bring my Venice 3000+ to challenge your 3400+ as I doubt you'd be able to match my 2.97GHz nor even at 1.8GHz would you match the 1.5-2-2-5 I was running on the ram.
but you are welcome to take on the 4400+ @ 2.99GHz I'm using right now and OCZ DDR625!

Point is you; you need to watch what you say and don't get ahead of yourself. I been using A64 for years now and unlike you I do move with the times.
Slow down a little or you'll hurt yourself...
============================================

Anyway, dude if Person can get you a dual channel system then go for it. Even the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (which was the board to have in Dec 2004 for all top scores etc...) will give you dual channel performance but you can keep your AGP card.
Hope you come right... :)

:D good idea ... not like I thought of that.

Hey person do you import stuff for people? If so, do you import car radios?
I do but would like to keep it to PC parts, but Pm me a link and i'll see that i can do.
