Personal document filing

So I'm starting to get flooded with the monthly bills etc & need some kind of a filing system for.

Anybody got tips, experiences & war stories to share relating to this?

I'm also thinking of digitizing them with a scanner - not sure whether its worth it.

I have done this with pretty much all my bills, and if you ever need to find them its so easy just sear on your email, where ever you are.

CamScanner for android for small one or two pages does the trick too. I scan anything that doesn't come via email but most of it is electronic.
