The Legend
Hi all,
Thread about personal experiences of the Toshiba brand of TV's
My Hisense 55" popped a week ago and Insurance paid out a paltry sum that I needed to add on to. I had been looking at the Hisense U7H and the U8H but the latter is priced at C1 money and the U7H uses Vidaa but still had great reviews. Well then why did I go with the Toshiba Z770 well..
I walked into Hirches and the Hisense TV's were playing the Store Demo's. Bright, amazing visuals. I asked to plug in my USB and played some torrents. Quality wasn't ideal and fair enough they didn't want me playing with the display settings.
I walk into Makro and the Toshiba booth is really small. Just the 65" and 55". Only a 65" demo was available, rest was already sold out. Looked the Toshiba display and it wasn't in Store Demo Mode. They were just playing Youtube
at 4k. Great quality and plugged my USB in. 8 different Picture modes and they let me calibrate it to what I liked. Was sold on the spot.
Below are my thoughts after 3 hours odd of watching the display.
Build Quality: Hefty beast at 19kg and really well build. Small bezels with silver grille on the front firing speakers. 4 HDMI ports of which 2 are the 4K@120hz
Software : Android TV 10, nuff said. No SF updates when I checked but apps did need an update.
Sound: Really great, has a sub on the back which is very punchy (and you can change it to how you like it). Dolby Atmos but not sure if it's the real thing. Netflix picks up I have a 5.1 sound setup.. I don't. Just the TV.
Video: Really great, look I've only watched American Dad on D+ @ 1080p but really sharp. Had to turn off Motion Smoothening and I haven't really adjusted the contrast/brightness etc as yet. Also still need to connect my Xbox Series S (possibly upgrading since I didn't think I'd be purchasing a 120hz TV this year).
Remote: Well built and works over bluetooth. Need to find another bluetooth remote.
Price: R13999 at Makro. 3 year warranty.
Will provide some pics etc in the morning if anyone is interested.
