A bit off topic: This morning I called ABSA to enquire about some unknown deposit into our business account. As I spoke to the guy (who could not help me), I got more and more irritated.

He picked up on this and said to me: "It sounds like you don't like our bank" .

Talk about the understatement of the year !!

well of course not , no bank is to be liked at all . bunch of money suckers

Dude, I am certain that you get raped on personal loans. I know Capitec chargers close to 30% PA interest, I'm sure that ABSA won't be far off.

jaaa well , will they contact me whether or not i get the loan ? coz she was suppose to call today but nothing .... :wtf:

got a loan approved by standard bank in under 48 hours, since they have the worst service on the planet, would imagine urs should b faster

NCA is just too much hassle :/

I wanted a personal loan, phoned in, approved on condition I sent them hundreds of documents, payslips, statements, proof of everything etc

Just told her to rather forget it

Average for banks that i have seen so far is roughly 27% at the moment. Your terms they normally let you choose from 6 months up to 72 depending on the amount loaned. What they also like to do is choose your amount you qualify and expect you to sign up as soon as they have told you the amount. Can take from two days to a week. Depends on how many people you complain to. :)

If those are the interest rates on personal loans, why not get a credit card and put it all on there? Depending how much you earn and which card you apply for, you should get R25 000 and the interest rate will be lower than 27%!

Although I have never looked into getting a personal loan, so not sure if there are other better options out there.

Was thinking of doing that. I have a discovery card with a monster limit so that might be an idea ;)

Virgin money interest rate is 15%. Took me under 5 mins to get approved online and they couriered the card to me.
