I need to take out pet insurance for my dog and would like to find out if it is worthwhile and hassle free and wich companies are the best?

You do know if your facts are true you can get your money back through the ombudsman. We had Dogsure for our 8 year old Daschund and the premium started at R133 a month and in January was R245 a month. In Oct I received an email to say that certain diagnostic procedures would be covered once a year. So we took her to the vet and asked for these diagnostics to be done. The bill came to R3450 which I paid
The claim was declined on the grounds that I had not told the insurer that the dog has a microchip and the actual serial or record number of this microchip. Although the vet's invoice showed the microchip had been scanned, this number was not on the ins co's records. I looked at the application and see no request for the actual number, merely to state that it has been done
We only have one dog and her name and breed are clearly stated on all the paperwork I can find
I since cancelled the insurance and sent an email. A month later I got a call to say the debit order had been declined. I told them why and the person just said "Oh" and ended the call
