Anyone used a pet tracker and how do you like it? How are they size wise - practical for cats?
I'm thinking of something like this

Depending on the size, they should be great for the wondering feline. Typically though with cats you need a breakaway collar, so they don't end up hanging themselves from the nearest fence or bush.
Then you go to weigh up the risk of having the cat come home with out the GPS. :)
But it would be handy when you need to track your feline down, you'll finally find out where his second family is. :)

If your cat comes home sans collar, you just track it before the battery runs flat :)

Why would you want to track a cat? It will come back if it hasn't found someplace better to be.

Our cat came back home after a night out with her entire foot flayed to the bone. We suspect she was trapped in a snare and managed to free herself. Multiple skin grafts and R20k+ vet bill later she is back to normal. We had lost two other cats without trace in the past - I guess you just want to know that it's not lying in a gutter suffering when it doesn't come home?

My Aunt had a cat but her husband was allergic so a friend of hers who lived on a farm adopted it.
The cat went missing after a few days, a couple of months later it pitched up at my Aunts house missing an eye.
It had to travel over 20km to get home.
Needless to say my Uncle was forced to deal with his allergy after that.

Moral of the story: If your cat wants to be at home it will. :D
