Hi,

I'm trying to sort out a pfSense firewall installation problem on Windows 10 platform.

I managed to install the text-based part of the installation. pfSense automatically assigned my cable NIC as WAN. I received a valid re0 wan interface but no IP address which means I can't connect to the web interface. I don't use cable /fixed line to connect to the internet so this explains the problem with this set up. I use a USB modem to connect to the internet.

I'm trying to figure out if my USB modem can be set up as WAN so that I can connect to the pfSense web interface.

Any guidance on how to go about doing this?

a wild guess would be along the lines of pfsense not recognising the usb device/drivers

How are you installing pfSense on Windows 10? With VMWare or VirtualBox?

I haven't used a virtualization platform to install pfSense. The set up is on a physical PC using a full installation from a ISO image.

Do you have any guidelines on how to permanently uninstall pfSense from my SSD?

I must say I don’t understand how you tried to install PF on Windows 10. Didn’t think it was even possible.

Just remove the partition if you don’t want it on the disk anymore.

Easiest would be to put SSD in bracket, connect to running Windows machine, go to disk management, rightclick and remove and re-create NTFS partition and quick format.
