Hi,

There seems to be phantom spam going around. The SPAM doesn't register on firewalls.

One of my clients were receiving SPAM from "MegaDik". About 5 messages a day. I checked my SPAM firewall and those e-mails weren't evening being picked up as e-mail. They didn't exist.

I thought it might be Spyware or something running on the client's PC. SpyBot and Ad-aware didnt pick up anything, so i thought I'd format and reinstall Windows.

Once the client plugged downloaded his e-mail, behold "MegaDik" SPAM was there again!!!

Doesnt anyone know how this damm spam gets through and how to stop it!?!?!

The client didn't sign up at the ghastly evil (Even though it has the same name as I) that is www.jayde.com did they? Reason I ask is I signed my website (see signature) up for listing there and IMMEDIATELY started receiving over a HUNDRED (no exaduration) spam emails a day to the address used. And low and behold and large portion of the spam is also for a lovely little product called "Megadik".

*sigh* I hope the day where I get actual fan mail and not "horny russian prostitutes wanting to increase the size of my lesbians" comes soon....

A waste of time reinstalling Windows.

Use Mailwasher as final defense.

It might be a pain to others, but look at implementing blacklisting and greylisting (as described in my blog). Part 1 and the Spam Blog.

Teach the client how to use Mailwasher - it is highly recommended.

Accept that there will always be a small percentage of spam slipping through. IMHO it is best to have a small percentage slipping through and no blocked legit emails than have a 100% success rate, and also have some legit emails being classified as spam.

If the client's ISP does not offer filtered email, and never will, ditch the ISP in favour of another ISP which do offer filtered emails.

Use Google Mail - their spam filtering is excellent.

I'm not sure that the e-mails are going through the hosting company's mail firewall.

There is no record of any of those e-mails. I've been blacklisting the e-mail
s domain, but it seems of little use, as the e-mails are not going through the firewall.

They seem to becomming form another origin....

Have you tried blacklisting/blocking these emails in your client's email client, try blocking emails with these subjects and from those addresses, they should automatically be deleted.
