Philips 5000 Series LCD at Hifi Corp

Hey guys, Hifi Corp is selling the Philips 42PFL5609 at R9000 over this weekend. I am itching to buy one, even though I know the risks of buying from them. It is such a PRETTY tv and the specs look good. I know it does not have a 100 Hz refresh rate, but are there any other reasons why I should/should not buy this? 9k for a 42" full hd lcd from a reputable manufacturer (for a tv as pretty as this) seems like a lekker deal.

We have one and it is a brilliant TV - playing games (PS3, XBOX and Wii) using it as a media center...

Nothing wrong with it and for that price I think it is well worth it

I also saw that special, one week too late for me though.
When I was shopping around earlier this month I often went into HIFI Corp cos they actually have the best collection of screens.

I was really stunned by the quality of picture on the Phillips 42" they had on display. Try as i might I could never find a better looking screen at Game, Hirches, anywhere. The Phillips was MILES ahead in terms of picture quality, unfortunately, also in price, about R 12500 or something.

If this screen was selling at that price when I was looking I would have grabbed it with my eyes closed.

ps : not sure if its that same range (5000 series)

The dent was made in my budget. Apart from my wife being semi-upset about me spending that much money, it is AWESOME.

I have the 5409, what does the 5609 give you - ambilight? The 7409 was 100Hz.
