guys im having serious issues using Samsung E370 as a modem using virgin. all the settings are correct, etc. when i hit dial it will dial it up fine then when it hits registering computer on the network it suddenly pops up with error 734 PPP link protocol terminated. virgin cant help me. any ideas

That usually means the AP is kicking you for some reason. Can you connect with GPRS from your phone? If so, did you remember to change the APN in your initialisation string so it reads:

at+cgdcont=1,"ip","vdata"

and does the last digit in the number you are dialing (e.g. *99***2#) correspond to the number of the VM settings on your phone as per this post?

Sorry if I'm repeating things you already know, but it's all I could think of.

been there done that. doesnt work. works fine using vodacom. just virgin that stuffs around.

I had the same problem, with my bluetooth cd , so Installed the cd that I got with my phone and bobs your uncle it work first time, just typed in vdata in the access point and from there I had no problems,Did you get a cd with your cellphone?

yes.... how else would i have the drivers for the phones modem??? everything is installed and it worked just fine using Vodacom... its just virgin that doesnt want to play ball... and calling virgin for help is like phoning home affairs and asking them for an apple.

I ve got a nokia 6680 and it`s working super fine , Dont know so much of Samsung phones. is`nt there any body that can help this guy?

Suggestion: backup your contacts, data, etc on the phone. Reset it back to factory defaults (can use some keyboard sequence, google it) with the virgin sim in. Once reset (phone reboots if you use the keyboard sequence), download the new settings from VM.

Prolly the apn stuff is wrong or somehow there's a username/password in the setting.

Read the settings post (sticky in the cellc/VM forum) http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=61765

The settings I downloaded from VM happened to be wrong (they sent me the wrong DNS addresses). Those I posted in the link in repitah's post above are correct, as per VM's website and they are what I am currently using.

If the above doesn't work, have a tantrum on hellopeter.com, its the only way to get Virgin to do anything.

ok sorry go to device manager and see if there are any yellow icon there.
I had that exact problem, also check your port settings ,Its only the modem drivers that is giving you that prob man.dont install the cd of samsung
uninstall it and creat a dial up through windows.
plug phone in the pc will see it and move to the folder on the disk to install the drivers and then try,its is a process but i can use both phones the d500 and the e samsung with virgin, start over again and uninstall everything from samsung that came with the disk.

guys after much fiddiling i sorted the problem out... it only seems to work when dialing through the SAMSUNG software and not through windows... dont ask me why. anyway thanks for all your help.

I will append this in a "troubleshooting" section in the Virgin Mobile GPRS/EDGE & MMS Settings thread. If there are any tips anyone would like me to include to help future VM clients, please PM me.

Regards
