Dont know if this belongs here but anyway.

I get a phone call today from some one claiming to be from a company that is in charge of all Operating systems here in SA, (Megabytes?lol) Telling me that my PC is not secure and that they are going to tell me how to protect my computer...

Anyone else find this fishy? or whats the deal here..

They telling me that my OS is 'Compromised' saying 98% is corrupted and I must now update. But iv never even heard of these people, or even used a piece of software by that name, hope its not a legit thing cause I just hung up,(Couldnt understand wtf they were saying, foreign accent..)

:\ the fact you have to ask scares me

Ok Bro. I was just trying to make sure it wasnt microsoft or sumting thats all.

There were other threads here on mybb about assitance from microsoft. Consensus was its a scam.

ask them on what ip address they picked it up? where does the threat originate, and what version of O/S are you running?

their answers would be interesting.

ye when ever I asked them questions like that they would say, theres malicious content on your computer, it is compromised.. but I dont get how they knew my name.>.>

Yup, my inlaws had two phone calls from these idiots about a month ago. They told them to get lost.
