As the heading suggests, we are looking for a phone for my 80+ years old mother.

Her needs from the phone are:
Sturdy, able to take a fair amount of knocks and drops.
Camera.
Send and receive photos. (keeping tabs on grandkids.)
Easy to operate.
Fairly big buttons.
Long battery life.

She was using a Nokia Asha 300, that worked quite well, even though the basic touch screen proved difficult for her.

We are looking at a Nokia Asha 202, which is similar in shape to the Asha 300, but easier to operate.

Your opinions?

ps: If anyone is in the Oudshoorn area that will be able to assist with setup, reprogramming of contacts from SIM to phone and generally getting the phone ready for use, please PM me.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

You can also look at the Nokia 208. It has a newer chipset than the Asha 202, ditches the touch screen to boost battery life and has more internal storage and system memory. There's also the Asha 301 with a better camera and battery life, but the keys have a glossy finish, so it picks up fingerprints easily.

If you have a spare Android phone lying around just install the BIG Launcher. One of the best interfaces I've seen for the elderly and vision impaired.
