Hey

I got a phone from USA, but it's blocked here..

Just want to know if there is a way for one to get it unblocked for an MTN service?

Or for any other service provider..

Thank~

Locked or blocked?

Is it locked for say use on AT&T only?

it could be locked to an USA SP. You should be able to get it unlocked. At most bigger fleamarkets there are often people that unlock phones.

Another problem is that the USA uses different frequencies - if it is not a quad-band phone then it will not work in SA.

what phone did you get?

if its a CDMA device then ... :/

He would have noticed that by the absence of a sim card slot....

It is most likely an operator lock-in issue. Americans like that kind of thing.
Maybe go to the Android section and ask for assistance in flashing the unit?

I would actually like to give you the details, but it's actually a friend that has the phone..

He just asked me if I knew anything about it..

So i though I'll ask you guys on MYBB..

But I'll ask him for more details..

Then post it up again.

Thanks

if he was tech savvy he wouldnt be asking here, gotta cover out bases.

Depending on the model of the device, you can get unlock codes for the device. They normally cost between $10 and $25 and will allow you to use the phone on any network operator.
I just did that with my T-Mobile HD7 a few weeks ago and worked a charm.

Oh great.. Thanks.. Where did you get it unlocked?

Your phone is network locked. All unlocked blackberries work on our GSM networks here. There are no CDMA specific BB 9800s.

You can buy unlock codes from many sites by credit card and paypal. Do a google.
