Hey guys! I've recently moved into a new apartment and I noticed there is a "cover" over the place the telkom line would be! The apartment was empty for a few months before I moved in.. Will I have to pay any sort of reconnection fee for them to remove the cover and enable the line? Or will they just do that for me? And once they've done that, how quickly do mweb enable the adsl line and account ( their special for R350+-)

Hi There,
It is possible that there is no line behind the cover. So I suggest you take the cover off and see.
As far as I understand it when you request a line from Telkom then the installation cost includes running from the pole to your premises including routing it through the trunking to the point where the cover is.

Can't comment on how fast mweb will be able to do the connection for you.

Regards

Tim

Hey Tim thanks for the reply! The cover is screwed in with 4 square screws but I did manage to get it off to one side and shine a torch inside the side and noticed wiring so I'm assuming there is/was an existing line which is now just not in use? I asked a technician I saw close to my complex and he said if there is wiring or tubing inside then I should be ok

Hopefully he is right!

FYI, Mweb doesn't enable ADSL on the line... Telkom does. Takes about 5/10 minutes for Mweb to do their thing once they have all the paperwork & ADSL is enabled. :)

Took a few days for Telkom to switch my line to ADSL at the exchange
