Hi

Every time someone calls on my landline, I lose my internet connection. My landline and router are in different parts of the house. My router is plugged into a DSL filter, but this doesn't help. Is there anything I could do to fix it?

Filter is buggered or not plugged in correctly. Replace it...

There's your problem. Your router goes straight into the telephone outlet on the wall. Your phone goes into the DSL filter, then into the wall.

And if you need phone and dsl on the same jack?

Thanks, that looks a lot like the one I have, and mine still disconnects.

My setup

Jack-splitter-phone
.................-router

Then in the kitchen it's just a splitter with a phone.

How long have you had it?
They do need to be replaced every few years.
They can get hammered by lightning storms.

Actually, I can't remember. I'll pick-up a new one this week and see. Luckily, I don't get many calls at home, so it's not a major issue. Thanks.

You remove the handsets and the filters and test ADSL performance with the pure line. Rather look at the modem statistics (if you can) as well as a speedtest. Then you add the phone (with the filter inline on the phone line, not the modem) and see if this impacts the modem performance negatively. If it does, you know you need to change the filter
