Simple question, can you use a vodacom sim in a mtn phone or vice versa?

Thanks

yes you can they dont lock phones to a network anymore, they do however not honor the waraty on the phones, (at least vocaom doesnt) you have to take it directly to the phone manufacturer

Can they see which sim was used in the phone?

yes the buggers check that when you take it to them,
Im on MTN and My dads on vodacom, and we swaped phones, any way something was wrong with the phone and when he took it to vodacom they refused to send it in for repairs as the phone was used on MTN network and refused to take it it, we took it directly to nokia and they were happy to fix it

If a phone is issued by Vodacom SP and a Vodacom sim is not used in that phone for a consecutive 90 days, the warranty gets frozen on that handset and Vodacare will not honour the warranty. If a Vodacom sim gets used in the phone again after the 90 days, the warranty will come back into effect (not guarenteed).

Thanks for the reply’s. So if i use a mtn sim in a vodacom phone for lest say 80 days and use a vodacom sim for a few days and then mtn my warranty will still be valid?

Just stick a pre-paid Voda SIM in once a month for a day, make a call to check your voicemail, and revert...
