I've lately discovered that some of my clients can't get hold of me. They say my phone goes straight to voice mail.
This is a random issue and does not occur all the time.

Is somewhat problematic in the sense that I don't know whos calls I've missed lately. What's the chance of it being a faulty simcard? I've had the same simcard for years now.

If your phone's "radio" is of/faulty then service provider cannot see it and it will go to voice mail.
make sure your phone is not in aircraft mode.
or maybe you work in a place where there is no sig.
or you have a nokia.

Let me guess...MTN?

Yeah I know a few people getting this.

Yep, true story. Switching phones, SIM swaps, complaining etc. does not provide any solution. I have during business hours every day about 4 or more calls going to voicemail without me knowing. Unfortunately I'm stuck with two business contracts... Long story, just wish to move on as quickly as possible.

I have the same issues with MTN and a brand new Samsung GS3.

Got a new sim card, cancelled all barring, phone still goes to voicemail often.

Very frustrating.

Don't bother going across to Vodacom. It happens pretty regularly with them too, different SIMs, different phones, same issue.

This is a common problem with MTN. No delay until it goes to voicemail like what you get with poor reception; the call literally goes to voicemail as if the phone is switched off of diverted.

Lately all callers I've spoken to said they received the "caller busy" message. When I contacted MTN, the guy said it might be the sim, but after I told him I have a nokia n8 he quickly changed his tune. Apparently they've discontinued the N8 a while ago for exactly this problem. Seems like some kinda defect.

The contract only expires in April 2013, so I'm now using an entery level Samsung s5050 (i know...) - and what do you know, no problems. Bye-bye whatsapp
