Phone software updating

In my settings I have set my phone to only update when connected to wi fi but it still updates when I am not on wi fi.CAn anything be done?

Are you sure? It might give you a notification about an update when not on Wifi, but it shouldn't download the actual update. Did your phone download the update? Which phone is this?

It is in phone settings and in Google Play settings.It is a Gingerbread 2.3.6 phone.

go look in settings at each app. Some apps are installed to update whenever, others are restricted to wifi.

Yes, each app, not a global setting. When installing the app it should have allowed for settings...
