Hi,

Upgraded my phone in Monday, and MTN offered me a free sim swap, so my existing phone has my current sim card in and n the new the new one. Then Monday evening I received an sms wanting me to confirm the swap, so I replied Yes as per the sms, then every hour for the next 2 days I kept on receiving the same sms, I replied yes 5 more times, and then at 16:35 today I received another sms that the sim swap had been cancelled. Drove all the way to the closest mtn shop and all they cold do was log a issue. When I called the customer care line, the attitude was pathetic, no one seemed to be able to understand the issue, and all that happened was I was transferred from one person to another. Even the floor manager at the time, a Mr B Lepelle had no interest in my issue, and then claimed the systems were down, which was denied 5mins later when I called again. MTN is in a real mess.

I had the same mess for 3 days but did not receive the SMS to request the swap. I then decided to remove the battery for 30 seconds and when the phone restarted the old Sim was dead and the new one activated. MTN shop promised at least 5 times to call me back after visiting them every day, but you guessed right, they never did. Useless bunch.
I am also waiting for a resolvement of a billing problem for 6 month, have at least 6 reference numbers already, but nothing positive is forthcoming.

Can you PM me the details and I will get the relevant department to check. Send me the SIM number of the old and new SIM as well as your cell number.

Thanks

They should have done there while you waited.

SIM swap has never taken more than 10min for me.
