I'm in the process of replacing a phone from insurance, I was insured for R5000. They sent me a list of phones I can choose from and when I check online I'm finding most to be priced from R3000 to R4000 and some are old models. I used pricecheck.co.za, bidorbuy.co.za and Orange store amongst others. The phones I'm being offered are:

BLACKBERRY Z3 BLACK
HUAWEI ASCEND P6
LG G PRO LITE D682 8GB BLACK
LG G3 mini BEAT 8GB TITANIUM
NOKIA 1320 LUMIA PHABLET BLACK
Samsung Galaxy i9060 GRAND NEO DUAL SIM BLK
SONY XPERIA M2 LTE

With the excption of one or two I feel I can getter better choices for a value of up to R5000. What do you guys think of these phones and is there a more authoritative price list online?

I would prefer Galaxy, Xperia or LG.

If you dont mind the size, the Lumia 1320 is the best.
The Ascend P6 has the best specs for the andoid devices, and assume you wont consider the Z3.

Performance wise nothing on that list will beat the Lumia 1320.

Thanks for the feedback. Is Lumia 1320 Galaxy Note size? I prefer Android to Blackberry. P6 lacks LTE which I would like.

Can you ask to be paid out and use the cash to get a better phone online?

If you dont have the option to be paid out then select a phone that somebody on gumtree or carbonite would want. Advertise it as new and sealed. Get the cash and get a better phone for yourself from an online store

Absolutely right, most of the phones they have listed are retailing for under R4000. I will consider this option.
