Phones under R1k

Hi,

Phone bust. Budget bust. Wary of replacing with 2nd hand. Best places to shop for under R1,000? PEP & Ackermans suggested (and suspect that they may be my only option) but their sub R1k brands are entirely unknown to me.

Any advice welcome.

Edit: I have an existing bare bones MTN contract/sim - entered into way back when without a phone as previous phones have been bought cash.

gumtree is your only realistic option with 1K,
otherwise you can look on takealot daily deals maybe something interesting comes up, but will be more than 1K guaranteed.

Nice one and enjoyed owning a Xiaomi a few years back. Also, relatively more future proof than Mobicel/HiSense/JanMaak'nPlan alternatives that remain more attainable.

Most sub R1k gets binned after a few months and then you're forced to fork out R2k for something better because you don't want to make the same mistake.

Pay more for less.

Don't bother with sub 1K. Sell yourself or whatever else possible to increase the budget to 2K.

NL seems to mean network locked which is not mentioned anywhere in sales blurbs...
Settings will not stay open, closes after 1 second
Android stays in updating , never finishes spinning wheel .
Got a busy morning to get it exchanged somewhere as bought online from Game.
Any tips as to start replacing ?
