so here is a fun fact.

you and your 2 friends are all struggling with an issue and decide to phone 808.

you are a post paid contract subscriber. on say anytime 200
friend A is a pre paid contract subscriber, on say a top up 200
Friend B is on pre paid, no contract at all. he spends R800 per month on airtime, but there is no contract.

all 3 of you are in a suburban area with good reception, I mean you are on mtn....

you are on hold for 5 min the annoying music is playing and they answer your call, sort out your problem and poof, you are done, 5 10 15 minutes whatever, its quick, relatively speaking.

Friend A was still on hold when you were done.
he is still on hold half an hour later,
he is still on hold an hour later.
finally they answer his call, 1 hour and 45 min after he made the call. they help him and he gets sorted.

4 hours after he made the call friend B finally gives up or gets an answer, its hard to say what he did because he was a foaming mess on the floor, the annoying music drove him insane eventually.

now this might seem like a cute little story, but it is factual, try it. I have its not fun.
WE logged a ticket due to the insane discrepancy in answer time when trying to deal with a human on the other side and we got an official response. "Post paid contract subscribers get a higher priority on the call center line because they spend more money with mtn"

any one else brave enough to attempt the exorcise and post hold times before a consultant answered?

I've always been fortunate enough to have my call answered within two or three minutes. Guess I'm just lucky.

lol that made me laugh.....

Anyways 808 has music..... I did not know that. Always when I phone 808 I just hear "Manage you MTN sp cellphone account online, manage data submit and track services and do it all online with MTN active...... Pause......" and then she starts again...

Ohh yeah and 18:00 to 21:00 is a big no no if you want to phone them.... Atleast a 1 hour wait.....

Same experience...
MTN decided to show me how much they value me as a customer and cut my cellphone today without warning. I think its time to cancel a contract and go back to prepaid.

LOL, they keep phoning me to remind me I am due for a upgrade, until I can buy data with my airtime value I am not interested.

Still enjoying my S2 and the contract has worked out about as much as I would have paid for it cash,

dont be silly. get a good phone on an irrelivant contract, buy data on afrihost apn, we all know hardly anyone makes calls or smses anymore its all data, and l feel networks in SA are not seeing that, so get the phone you want, the contract does not matter, buying data with your airtime does not matter either.

yet at the same time I understand how you feel about your S2, mine served me well for a long time, now I have an S4, and 5 gig from afrihost for R100 more than I payed before....
