Wife and I went on our first overseas holiday together last year. We went to Dubai and Turkey.

I'm looking for someone that can put the pics in a photo book that I can print and bound in hard cover. I tried compiling it myself using some free software but I'm not creative enough to get the best results. Is there anyone here that can do this?

I have just over 4000 pics taken over 2 weeks all on a SkyDrive folder that I can share. About 25gigs taken mostly with a Canon 650D and some with a Nokia lumia 920. Timestamps on the Camera pics is local SA time and from phone is local time where pics were taken which also has the gps data.

Also need the price for compiling the photo book excluding printing of the book. The book doesn't have to contain all the pics but would like to have a decent size book in the and. Will be binding the book in A4 landscape.

I Don't want to volunteer as I'm in the process of learning it myself. And rather not stuff it up for you :D

I found these guys at the Photo expo and was impressed with the quality of their books, beware of the cheapies ( don't want to mention names :o ) the back of the books break and the pages fall out.

Maybe contact them and ask them if they could recommend someone :)
In the meantime I'll ask around and see if I can find you someone.
I have a friend that was a layout editor at a magazine. I asked her if I can pay her to do the lay out of my next wedding book. She was very keen. But we are in PTA and 4000 pics are a bit much to email.

I'll ask around ;)

Thanks. Will check out the link. All the pics are on my Microsoft SkyDrive account so i could just share the folder. Cloud storage FTW

I have bought quite a few on various Groupon deals.

I have found the best to be http://coffeetablebooks.co.za/

They have nice ones with wooden covers.

We have about 9 of them and I go through them quite often.

Just download the software and do it yourself. http://www.myphotobook.co.za is a local one.

Tried the software. Don't have the time and creativity to do the layout that would do justice to the pics.

Looking for someone that I can pay that will look at all the pics, choose the best for the book, format layout of the pics, maybe touch-up a few to enhance the pic and bring out the best in them and then send the completed electronic version of the book to me. I will source a local printing company to print the book.

Fair enough but you might need to make the task a little less monumental for them. Before focusing on photography I did DTP work for 15+ years and if someone wanted to dump a cloud link on my hands with 4000+ pictures I'd start adding zeros on the end of my bill then double the final amount if they were raw files. You need to cull those photos dramatically first.

I could get it down easily to 400 as many of the pics are similar in a sense. As an example I probable have 100 pics of the Blue Mosque but not sure which 5 to keep for the book. The same with pics taken in Cappadocia, Izmir, etc. The Turkey leg of the holiday was about 9 days across the western half of Turkey.

If you're looking for them to make artistic decisions - ie picking a suitable photo from a pool of similar images - then I'd stay away from any service. Chances are they're just going to pick and dump. At the end of the day though the more time you and the missus can spare to go through the photos and pick the ones that best epitomise your trip the better the album is going to be.

Fair enough. Will look at getting the pics down to 500. Would this number of pics work with a 192 page book. I think the wife and I can select the pics for the book. We both finance people with no creativity to do the layout. I have seen a book of someone that went to NY and the layout of the pics really added to the quality of the final book.

I saw a very nice idea, divide your photos up into trips, events or groups. And Create smaller albums for each. IT will make the task not so huge.

I was at Q photo yesterday, Their books are not bad. Specially the "layFlat" version.
