There was a thread recently about it, can't find it though. Many people, me included, will recommend Canons Pixma range. Check out a few in the shops, look at price, and then look at internet reviews. I have the IP5200 and the photos are brilliant!

The inks are the actual expense - obviously depends on how much you print. Get one with different ink tanks for the different colours.

I just got the Canon MP560. The suggestion i got was to look at Canon and to check the prices of the inks. It must also have single inks

Look at the Canon SELPHY printers. Can't beat dye sublimation printing. They are dedicated photo printers so do 4x6 and 4x8 and not A4, etc. Prices range from around R750 for the CP530 to around R2.5K for the ES40.

As for paper, 100 sheets of 4x6 will set you back around R350. But you get the ink + 108 sheets combo for R400. Can also get inks for gold and silver and there's a dedicated pack for black and white.

This is ofcourse if you want a dedicated photo printer. Otherwise you just going to go for an inkjet. In which case the Canon Pixmas look real good.

we just need a dedicated photo printer, already got a normal printer for business related stuff... A canon it is then i guess!

Look at the design, price & availability of cartridges. Then find the corresponding printer.:D

You can - by taking it to a print shop. Plus it's cheaper. :)

I've got the SELPHY* and it's a nice printer - probably the best in-home photo printer I've had so far. My only complaint is I can only ever find the 4x6 postcard paper for it. :o

*IC was giving them away with something else.
