I have a client that I supplied a Canon MG5140 to last year, and he's been printing up a storm - averaging new cartridges every second month.

He is elderly, and confined to a wheelchair, so this is all he does beyond sitting in the sun and reading.

Now he is dissatisfied with his printer and I must supply a new one (regardless of the fact that he just got two sets of cartridges from me).

I don't do much photo printing, and I am hoping you bright sparks can point me in the right direction.

I have been thinking along the lines of a straight 4 x 6 printer, because that's what he uses - that should simplify the process.

So what I need:

1. Idiot-proof printing (not that he's an idiot, far from it, just technologically challenged).
2. 4 x 6" printing only.
3. Reliable source of consumables - photo papers and inks.

Any help in this regard would be much appreciated.

Canon, Epson, HP, Sony etc all make 4x6 printers. I doubt many people own one of these so reviews would probably be your best bet.

Are you talking about those portable printers that photographer carry around at clubs? Computer Mania sells them for R700.

a little more expensive than smaller photo printers but it's print quality is excellent

sorry only read now that it must be 4x6" only..

Not necessarily - I am merely considering this as an option to reduce complications. He always seems to have paper load issues and any advice, regardless of size, would be appreciated. Personally, I never a problem when I test it in front of him, but you know how we get when we get old...
