what is the easy way to make a 3mb JPEG photo smaller ?
need to send 10 of them in a email to some one.

If you use Outlook you will be given an option to reduce the size when attaching images.

not sure if irfanview can process multiple photos at once. I find this one useful for batch processing

Open in MSpaint,press Ctrl-S to resave it

Or you can use Microsoft Office Picture Manager which should be already on your machine (depending on what OS you are using).
Open your folder in MS Office Pciture Manager and select all the photos you wish to compress - and then select the menu "Picture" and "Compress Pictures".
You will have the option to compress for documents, email or web - I find the 'documents' option to be the best. You can see the before and after sizes ... but dont forget to SAVE for your files to be compressed.

I think it is called something else at the moment but you'll still pick it up when googling.

Plenty of options and I find the quality to be rather good after resizing.

The XP PowerTools Image resizer is great!
For Windows 7 someone developed a lookalike,

Just right click on the photos you want to resize, select resolution and go.
