I'm about to refurbish my living area and I was wondering if I could take my photos I have on my pc - and go to a print shop - and frame them - and hang them on them walls. Won't my photos lose quality since they are very small? - 400 x 300 pixels and smaller.

You never lose quality it will just look worse the bigger you want your frame to be.

400x300 pixels is very small though - in future go as high as you can, I reckon 1600x1200 pixels would be a good starting point.

suggestion: accept the quality or just use smaller frames.

I've done that - I had them printed at 15" x 10", and they were around... hmmm. Might have been 1024x768, might have been 1600x1200. I know I posted here about it, and someone gave me a handy link showing what resolution will print decently up to what size.. try doing a search for it.

Nothing nicer than having your own photos on the wall :)

why don't you just get big versions of the same photos?

I dont think grandma's 80th comes around twice in a life time :D
He will have to make do with the small pics, cause I wouldnt upscale.

yeah lol
what I meant was, there must be originals somewhere?
But surely the small res pics are the originals?
I could be wrong, but isnt that maybe the resoloution he originally took the shot with? Its small, but maybe they were taken with his phone. Who knows

True. There are some "nice" pics I downloaded on the net and I wanted to print and frame them.

People should share.:D
People do share - I often give away full res versions of my stuff as long as its for personal use but it should be my choice. Of course anything that you see online (incl flickr) which is covered by a creative commons license is usually fair game (though some restrictions can apply)

. . . . that and my watermark often seems to be more visually appealing than the actual photograph :D
