Can anyone here give me some advice on photoshopping an image.

A friend of mine took a photo of a snow man in london yesterday, but since its all white, it kinda of fades into the backround. Wanted to know if it can be fixed?

If you want to give me a peek I might be able to offer a few suggestions.

Also - if it was shot in RAW you'll have a better chance of recovering some of the blown highlights.

Just looks a bit underexposed. You should be able to improve it a bit.

I've tried messing around with the exposure, and it helps but still cant bring out much definition, and sharpening just makes it way to grainy.

Will keep on trying

I think you should be able to create a layer and then multiply it to get some detail out of the over exposed areas. You can try multiple layers until it comes right and you can also use a selection if you need to mask an area.

Thats pretty cool.

If I could ask, what adjustments have you done to it?
Dang - I had a feeling you might ask.

Off the top of my head . . .

I did a level (white) off the snow then burnt a bit of contrast on the snowmen - two or three duplicated layers (blending mode set to screen) finally a fourth on just the man/trees in the background.

It took twice as long to write this as it did to do the actual PS work. :) I'll take another crack at it later.

LOL... well you still typed that quicker than my attempt.

I know how to do underwater photography fixing, but thats about it.
