Photosketch - insane!

I just saw this for the first time and thought I'd share it as I have not seen mention of it on here before.

Bugger the necessity for photoshop skills.... when "creating" an image Photosketch allows you to draw a basic grade 3 standard sketch and it will output a "photoshopped" image for you!

I haven't tried it yet but it looks insane :

Still to be officially released it seems but this may explain the inability to test it :

The program, which has been built by five Chinese students at Tsinghua University and the National University of Singapore, uses a vast library of images to turn a basic sketch in to a photograph. A website that allows people to experiment with the software has crashed under the volume of traffic.

Haha, that looks like some heavy BS. Would be awesome if it is true though, but how they are managing to automatically cut people from random pictures on the web (with perfect precision) is beyond me, I have trouble doing it manually...

Have a Google.... it is all over the net, including the Telegraph.com, gizmodo.com, downloadsquad.com... so if it is BS there are going to many rather embarrassed, previously reputable, websites out there!

On a similar note, well similar at a stretch of the imagination, I just downloaded Picasa 3.5 and I can't believe the face recognition abilities it has! It is scanning all my images and making suggestions as to who is in each image. Things are advancing wayyyyy to quick. The point I am trying to make is who knows what is possible....

Yip, still early days...

"It’s early, experimental, and questionably useful, but it’s just too cool," writes Devin Coldewey on CrunchGear. "I don’t want to be premature here, but I’d say tentatively that this does appear to be the greatest thing of all time."

It is a bit further than just a theory, however....

If you’re dying to try this thing out, you’ll have to wait – the high interest has taken their site down. But it’ll be back up soon enough. We can’t wait to see what people build with this thing.

Apparently the source code is available... means nothing to me though.

Interesting. looks like some sort of image searching technology (I looks like you have to wright what your are drawing) combined with the image shape and location. I guess it would be online based.

Look at photology as well...
