In short this job entails:
* Developing cutting edge technology alongside our technology architects
* Thinking OUTSIDE THE BOX to bring new ideas to the solutions we bring to life
* Maintaining and improving current software projects
Requirements:
* 2-3 years experience programming in PHP & Perl
* Experience with other languages such as bash scripting and C is a PLUS
* Must be able to install & configure a LAMP system
* Experience with Apache configuration including .htaccess files and URL rewriting
* Experience using MySQL
* Experience using Linux (Debian preferred)
* Experience with WordPress and site management using WordPress
* Experience with Wiki (markdown), forums (bbcode)
* Experience using XHTML/Javascript/CSS/XML/JQuery/Bootstrap and creating clean frontend designs and interfaces that comply with W3C standards
* Experience using Git and github (or something similar to github)
* Good grasp on MVC concepts and at least use of one
* Vim experience (or firm commitment to learn it)
* Friendly and well presented
* Good telephone etiquette & communication skills
* Ability to work under pressure from management and clients
* Ability to take constructive criticism and have your changeset rejected 100 times until its absolutely perfect
* Lots of confidence with ambitious & vibrant attitude
* Pro-active and constructive team player
* Proper English usage and clear spoken, some of our large clients are international
* Not afraid to go the extra mile & willing to work overtime, Saturdays and Sundays if required, some of our websites are International
* Background in IT, familiarity with ADSL products, reseller/shared/vps/dedicated server hosting and online backups is a BIG plus
Role Description & Responsibilities:
* Assist with maintaining around 10 opensource project websites
* Design and develop web-based software layouts, styling and basic functionality for various web-basd software packages we develop
* Incorporating of company/project and artwork into layouts and web interfaces
* Attending to tickets on our ticketing system relating to software bugs and issues, reproduction of issue and writeup
* Report on all critical and important aspects concerning your work
* Adherence to company policies and procedures
* Work according to your TODO list and priorities
* Work closely with peers and become part of a growing team
* Sense of humor a must
Additional roles:
* Proof read web content for spelling and proper grammar use
* Answering phone and live chat
* Working with our sales team to develop product content
