Physical games with keys - throw away?

What I did, I had an old Microsoft cd file thingy with hundreds of sleeves for disks. I put all the cds +cd keys into that and chucked the covers/boxes that the games were in. So now I just have one file with all the games until I can come to terms with throwing that away.

I have Starcraft II, Combat flight sim 2, Il-2 Suromvik Cliffs of Dover, Battlefield 3, COD2 in physical form. All have keys.
I assume these are not resellable - they are taking up space, I assume I should just chuck?
Surely the SC2 key is linked to your battle.net account?

Yeah, that's the point. They're all linked to some or other account - EA, Battle.net, etc.
My point being the disks are useless when I can just download again, and even though I haven't played any of them in yonks, I can't give them to anyone else to enjoy. I guess that's the way gaming is these days.
Yup, on one hand its useful for you in that you dont need to find the disk to install again. It sucks that you cant pass them on though.
Im sure it was a ploy on the game developers part to make sure you couldnt sell games when you were done with them.

So, if you're nervous about chucking the keys incase you lose access to your account - the good news is that that the supplier don't care.
So, a couple of years ago, I bought a game from Musica - I don't buy physical games, but they had it on special and I went for it.

Got home, found out that the key had been used. I chatted to EA support, and they had me send the slip together with the game cover and showing the key, then told me, doesn't matter it's been claimed.

Lesson learned, if you want free games, open the covers at musica and take pictures of the CD key.

They didn't bother to check it against the account it was activated against? I would have told EA to get rekt.

Luckily we are migrating towards digital commerce, product respectively.

Ditto. Even steam (back in the day at least), would happily recover 'your' game/account if you provided them with the original key and had to write the ticket number on the key/paper/sleeve to prove you owned the actual key.

Was burnt in the same manor, think this was way back in 2010 or around there. Swore from that day on that I wont be buying physical media for PC ever again.

They couldn't be bothered.

Yeah, I ended up taking the transcript to Musica and getting my money back - but haven't bought a physical game since.
I might've taken some pictures of CD keys to see if anything happens to the account, but nothing did.
