the app seems pretty broken and it removes the key idea of crypto - the math decides. Here they’re back to we have clever algos to remove fraudulent users. That seems quite central
 
It's pretty much adware at this point or malware, depends on how you look at it.

The coin has no value and cannot ever have a value, there is never work that will be done so it cannot have value. Bitcoin is supposed to have value based on the offset that it cost to mine it, PiCoin has no value at all, just that need person to log in/join and it's created.
The way the coin is set up, it's the person inviting who has the power of everyone below them, but guess who the original people were that invited everyone...

Now let's ask ourselves "what have I got to lose"?
You just installed an app that has the ability to track you, recently it's also gotten adds and forces you to log in every 24 hours. To actually get the coin awarded you need to confirm your phone number. Nice data mine there.

Checked out the site for about 90 seconds and decided it was rubbish. Checking the value of the coin and the number in circulation (ZERO & ZERO) confirmed this.
Maybe it takes off, but no thanks!
 
Took another look at this & it makes more sense to me now.

Misunderstood what they're trying to to. What the app is currently doing is the equivalent to what test networks usually do - i.e. initial seeding. The final product will be on a true blockchain. And simple time basis each person gets X seems fairer in that regard.

Will keep "mining" this for now.
 
Testnet for this only on windows? grrrr

Guess I'm going to have to set up a windows server
