Hi Guys/gals

i am totally in a mood,
the reason is, my golf was claimed by the affirmitave action group.

I have no Insurance on da golf (1990 model) Paid cash
OK so life is not so bad, business is doing well. got me a Hyundai Sonata 16V Auto (btw I am in a wheelchair)

and a 2007 TATA for the missus.....

however the insurence says "do you have a tracking device" I reply NO with the question, How much will i save,

Now on a 70K car i will save R18 / month by having a tracking device, but this will cost me 199 / month

rather let the insurance pay if the car goes

What i am gonna do is.....................

develop a tracker For thr people, not to sure how yet. but i promise you, this is what i am gonna do,
Please let me know what you want in a tracking device.
BTW this is gonna be a FREE TRACKING DEVICE* (Only pay for hardware*)

let me know if i should carry on or not

Kenny

Any tracking device, even a free one should be given the thumbs up by insurance companies and should have a team able to act on the information given by the device to locate and recover a stolen vehicle. Otherwise what use is it?

Think: Cellphone hidden in a secret compartment in the car. Then subscribe to "look for me". Tracker for R11.80 a month. (Well, not the helicopters and guys in uniform).

_Sorry to hear_

Ha ha I had to laugh ;)

The Mog: It's a very heart-warming idea, but I need to ask about the maintenence fees of the project:

- Communications centre for for administration.
- Communications infrastructure.
- Employee salaries.

Just to name a few expenses of such a business? I understand that the monthly cost is high and perhaps unjust (I can't say for sure as I haven't looked into this), but you must understand that there are fees involved.

The (perhaps propriotory) technology for concealment and operation is not manufactured and operated by amateurs and you pay for this service.

Just my 2 cents ;)

I don't really understand this

Which affirmative action group 'claimed' your car?

all you need is a trakm8

http://www.trakm8.com/products/trakm8/features/

look under security features for you intended use...but it does so much more..

fitted to the car, fit a sim card, and you can sms your car for info...like "where are you?"

or you can say to your car,,,,look...stay within a km of where i put you...and if you move...sms me your location, direction and speed.

or...look mr car...i put you in the garage every night at 10pm...if you move between 10pm and 6am then sms me your location, direction, speed etc.

last i checked they were about ÂŁ400 in the uk.

Sorry to hear it. Such things should not happen to disabled people (or anyone for that matter).

Cell tracking technology might not be accurate enough, since some of the Cell blocks are massive in some areas.

I think a better bet GPS with separate receiver/sender. That would however also involve
a subscription for the GPS service.

For simple theft prevention, a homemade immobilizer works wonder. The coolest one I saw so far had a magnet on the keys that one had to swipe over the armrest to disable the immobilizer.

the trakm8 i mentioned above is a proper gps receiver (no subscription needed)..just pulls info from the satellites. can even spit out nmea sentences from its serial port to use with laptops for routing etc.

uses cell/gprs for sending sms messages back to the user.

what am i missing?

Yeah, my mate has one of those. Not for vehicle tracking (I think the tracking unit may be worth more than the car :D) Just uses it to calculate distances and directions travelled (some people enjoy that kinda thing).

Me? I have Cartrack...

TrakM8

The TrakM8 products are imported by a company called SmartSurv. As far as I know you need the software or be subscriber to be able to track your vehicle on Internet Explorer. But still a good option.
