Speed, mostly.

PCI-E SSDs don't have to stick to SATA or AHCI standards so there's no driver overhead to slow things down and the drive can go as fast as the NAND flash or controller allows. The Plextor M6e and OCZ Revodrive 350 are PCI-E SSDs but they're still tied down to old technology in terms of signaling, although that has some benefit when you're using it on a board that doesn't support NVM drives.

NVM is a controller technology that doesn't use SATA or AHCI and allows for some ridiculous speeds that go beyond what a single Fusion IO system offers. Intel's DC P3700 is probably the best solution out there at the moment.

Imho, it's not worth the upgrade yet. Faster loading times by a few seconds. That's it. They are still ridiculously expensive but offer too little storage space. If you can afford to get one, well, go ahead.

I think intels 2tb pci ssd with read and writes speeds of around 2000mbs is R80000 at the moment

Yeah - more space is of greater interest. The difference between very fast and very very fast isn't all that noticable.

Not just loading times. If you edit 4K video, a PCI-E SSD saves you tons of time. That's why the Mac Pro uses two Samsung PCI-E drives in RAID 0.

And you don't have to spend the full R90K for the 2TB model, 400GB offers more than enough performance already.

Intel DC P3700 400GB @ R19424
