So im looking for a new fibre isp from 01/01/2019(vuma aerial)ive narrowed it down between cool ideas and rocketnet as both have good support on this forumn..my question is as follows..copl ideas offer a 20/2 at R809 and rocketnet offer 20/20 at R805..ill be using it for occasional gaming..netflix and dstv now..how important is the upload aspect?which one wpuld u choose as I.dont want to go through the hassle of choosing another isp for at least another 2 years..thx in advance

upload is important for cloud backup, like photo/video of google photo app, and drop box. once it is fully used, your any internet experience will be very bad, such as slow, no connection. so 20M upload is preferred.

Just chiming in that Im on Rocketnet (only 4Mbit) and happy thus far. Their online chat function really is the best. Start chat. Wait a few minutes for a Support agent. Bam. Get help.

FYI: Apparently vumatel is upping the 4Mbit lines to 10 in a month or two (Confirmed with Rocketnet support on their online chat) so you might want to take that into consideration. Hope there will be some 10/10 packages.

10/10 will be a good proposition if it comes in at R550 pm..

I second about online chat function on rocketnet; possibly second to none.

p.s. I shall not spoil the post by saying a 3 letter word that starts with b and ends with t.

Well then I must of just been unlucky..twice ive gone online to ask for assistance and no one has helped me..and yes it was during their "office hours"all I wanted to know is which router I get on a 20/20 and if im bound to them for a few months if I take the router as I have dont need installation

My apologies if this comes across as cocky, but why would I want to go with Rocketnet who charges me a R1.7k odd installation fee where other ISP's give that to me for free?

Am I missing something here gentlemen?

We're using a VOX 20/2 connection with Vumatel aerial at R756. They absorbed the installation fee. Apart from a slight bobble with their accounts department right at the start, we're happy with them and their customer support is good.

Decided to go with cool ideas due to good reputation on.forumn..Rocketnet also have some clause where u have to stay.a minimum of 6 months otherwise there is cancellation fee of R1500(bearing in.mind that there is no installation required as I was just moving isp`s..

I found that some ISPs offer free install on some networks but not others.

So isp A might have free install on network 1,2 and 4 but isp B will have it for network 2,3 and 4

Interesting - I think rocketnet is perhaps the only provider with such huge cancellation fee then - which explains why their monthly charges are bit less - as they lock you down for 6 months basically.

p.s. very sneaky of Rocketnet although I plan to stay with one ISP for at least a year unless they are disaster.
Where is this cancellation fee mentioned, any idea @Rocket-man ?

When I signed up with RN they covered the Vumatel R1700 install fee ( through a discount to the monthly subscription over 6 months). This was on a 100 / 100 package in January 2018. There were no other fees at sign up stage.

I have fibre so no installation required andI .told them.that..if you stay for shorter than 6 months there is a cancellation fee of R1500..pro rata depending on how many months u had been.there already..
