Has anyone got advice on how to take action against an account hacker?

A friend of mine was recently badly beaten up by her boyfriend.
She has laid charges and got an interdict to keep him away and a court date is scheduled for some time in the future.

He had also sent her threatening e-mails and she has just found that he hacked her g-mail account and deleted everything in it including her address book and other personal stuff. The intrusions were via the IP address of his ISP.

Theoretically, there are tough penalties for hacking but laying a charge at a SAPS charge office offers very little hope of it being taken seriously by someone who is barely literate.

The interdict prohibits him from harassing her and, subject to its date of issue, she might be able to hit him on the harassment angle initially.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

i'm sure some nice guys here wouldn't mind making his life a living hell if you could PM us his name and contact details

Did she take photo's of the "damage" he did to her?

Upload them to facebook - tag the ****er for all his friends to see....damn coward.

---

Print said photo's - deliver to his work's reception addressed to him with a little note saying "see what you did"

yea i tend to agree with the above posters, I wouldn't waste time and money going to a court. A guy like this deserves to have few nice big guys rock up one day when he is leaving work and just teach him what its like to get a massive beating for hitting girls. I would also do the facebook thing and tag all his friends and family so they can see what kind of person he is. I personally know my mother would kill me if I ever touched a girl, as she says "I put you in this world i certainly can take you out of it again, especially if you lay a hand on a girl"

Fully agree. Get it out in the open and online. Tag him. Blog about him. Make sure all his friends, family and co-workers know about it. Name and shame... he won't be so tough after that.

Contact google and see if they can help. Dunno if they keep backups.

fckn douche. Let the law take its course if assault charges were filed. Try reporting the hacking, but this is SA, so I don't see much traction there.

Revenge is a dish best served cold. After all the legal stuff is out of the way, then post it to FB.

I went with her to the police station last night to lay a charge about the hacking and she was told to come back Friday because the person assigned to her assault case was off duty. The court case for that is scheduled for 24 August and she is determined to see it through. Assailant is Jonathan Brand, working for the navy in Simonstown.

Laying a charge against a hacker looks as though it will take a long time because the details get sent to the internet section for investigation and then the ISP records have to be accessed.

Not much will be gained by getting the internet information except if they seize his computer .
The IO will have to get a warrant to seize the scum bags computer and then the Technical support team of SAPS can prove weather he did or did not hack the accounts.

Although very tedious and long drawn out, I hope she sees it through for her sake and for the sake of his future punch bags.

I hate these tw@ts that are cowardly enough to hit women and if the courts don't do their thing properly there are many ways to skin a cat.

I have been very surprised over the years to find out whom are women abusers and it is shocking to see how many there are. I have dealt with a few over the years and now with Facebook, internet and online chatting facilities etc it is easier without getting your hands "too" dirty.

The best advice is for her to just forget about him and move on with her life.
Hacking him back? blogging about him? whut? :wtf:

seriously the faster she goes on with her life the happier she will be.

Yeah...

The guy could be a real **** and end up tracking her down, beating her up AGAIN and killing her...

... And getting away with it.

This is SA.remember.

Let the law take its course. Get a protection order, interdict...

And try and move on...

The best revenge is karma. It will get him. Let life takes its course, he will get his day sooner or later.

You're 100% right.
He has the brains and the ability to do it and she has no protection other than the little bit that her few friends can offer.

The law does not give a stuff - even though it is supposedly WOMAN'S day today.
