Hmm no idea what to make the thread heading,

But anybody else got the problem with animax and discovery and a few other channels that when viewed that they are cut off, you notice this when they are displaying text. Is there a way to fix this?
My tv is a normal 48cm flat tv. There is a setting on the tv itself to set the display on 19:6 but that does not help.
Have not really look into the dstv settings yet.

I don't see anything strange. I know that animax sometimes broadcasts in widescreen - not sure if that will affect you though - and discovery don't do that anyway. BBC world is also broadcasting in widescreen, so you can compare with that channel.

So your picture is not cut off?
Wide screen okay but should the dstv decoder not stretch the picture to my tv size in some way?

Have a look at DSTV menu > Advanced options > TV installation > 9949 > Aspect ratio.
You probably have it set to wide. Set to 4:3 for normal tv.

No picture cut off.

The decoder should try and make the image fit on your screen - but check what you have it set to - 16:9 or 4:3. For your tv it should be set to 4:3. I think there's also a setting for how it shows the widescreen images (letter box or whatever) - so you might have to fiddle with those.

Once you've got your TV set up correctly according to what Broadcom said above, you can press SHIFT and then TV GUIDE on the remote to cycle through the different aspect ratio options...

I think that this is due to the aspect ration as Broadcom mentioned - however, I have noticed on Sky that the picture is cut off, as monochoice don't serve the content in wide-screen - it seems to have happened more-so over the last few months, and get's worse. This has nothing to do with the aspect ratio setting and is probably DSTV just skimping on their broadcast bandwidth - what's new...
