Dear Nathan

Just a friendly reminder to let you know that should you be travelling outside the borders of South Africa, you will be able to access our casinos.

In terms of South African law it is illegal to play on ANY Internet Casino from within the borders of South Africa. However, if you are outside of South Africa you can play on our casinos and you will not be contravening any exchange control laws as our casinos are in Swaziland. The currency is Emalangeni, which has the same value as the Rand and forms part of the Common Monetary Area.

If you are in Swaziland you can even visit one of our land based casinos - Piggs Peak Casino in the beautiful mountains and Happy Valley Casino in the beautiful Ezulwini Valley.

So next time you&#8217re out of South Africa, log on to Piggs Peak Casino or Volcanic Gold Casino with your existing account details and try your luck!

Should you require any assistance, please contact our friendly 24/7 support center who will gladly assist you.

Kind Regards

Piggs Peak Casino Swaziland

Then you guys need to be putting pressure on the government to get the regulations sorted out.

Like BOFH said, as far as I understand it, the current law is just temporary until the online gambling industry can be regulated better (IE so that the govermant can get more TAX through online gambling)

Why is http://www.bet.co.za/index.php allowed to operate though?

Online sports betting is still legal. I remember something about sports betting being regarded as having a higher element of skill than online gambling in general, thus not satisfying the definition of online gambling in terms of current legislation. Lol

Sports betting is regulated

you will find bet.co.za is licensed by the Western Cape Gambling Board

i read somewhere that some1 said that poker was a game of skill more so than luck.. cant remember where i read this but sounds about right to me, poker isnt all about luck, altho online is a little different.

What would make it any different online?
Skill is skill, landbased or online.
Luck is a very small variant in the game. But everyone rides on it at times.

im not much of a poker player but i would assume the difference between live playing and online playing would be that you cannot get to see your opponents reactions, Watching a person and how they react to certain things can tell you what kind of hand he has. I have never played online but i assume you wouldnt be able to call bluffs properly and you wouldnt be able to properly bluff others? if not maybe i would have to look at online poker sometime...

Even though facial expressions helps with reading people, there is alot more to it IMO. Offcourse there is more skill in playing live poker, but it is also alot slower. With online poker you can play 4 tables simultaniously, and betting is ALLOOOOOT quicker. So your winning margin can be alot smaller.

You can read alot on how people bet, and statistically, you should win in the long run if you play the correct hands at the correct times. There is alot of reading material around this. Most people do not know about odds, play hands they should not play, and when they have a good hand but there is a good chance that they are still beat, cannot let go of that hand (ie they hit 2 pair but there is a straight and/or flush on the board). Then there is more about betting patterns ect, the theory goes VERY deep and complicated.

I know of enough people who make a very good living out of playing online poker. You often see the same players in the final tables of big tournaments, even online.

This is what you get when you have people making decisions that do not know anything about the subject.

i see, thanks for the info. never played online poker so wouldnt have known all of that. true story tho! live poker def takes way too long thats why i stopped playing monday night poker with buds.. i guess playing enough of online poker you would start realizing certain patterns for bets etc, makes logical sense :)

maybe ill give it a go sometime but i guess i cant now while in SA......
