Can any mechanic/GM/SM/Piggyback user please weigh in .

  1. Can a piggyback cause harm to your engine/gearbox ? I get the fact any tuned engine gets worn out faster but I’m referring to major damage.
  2. Is a piggyback detectable ? I’m getting mixed responses in the sense some say the ECU still knows and others claim it’s undetected
  3. Can a piggyback function with a downpipe and intake or is that mainly for ECU tuning ?

If you want to play, you have to pay.

Be very careful with selecting your reputable tuner and discuss your expectations. If your expectations include "being undetectable" under motorplan, rather wait and do it post motorplan. Many claim to be undetectable, but none will stand behind you if you are caught out.

In terms of wear or major mechanical failure. Do some research on what typical gains are for your car make and model. Maybe you need supporting hardware to get the most out of your car, ie intake downpipe ect. There will be more wear but if you increase your maintenance shedule accordingly you can keep it relatively normal.

Edit: what car are you referring too?
