I got a pinched nerve in my neck on the left side, just below my ear. It is starting to get a bit bad and I can't even run anymore. I ran last Thursday and I could barely walk or move my fingers on the left side. I do not know how this happened i.e (No kicky s3x or something similar ) . I played lots of Cricket in high school (95-99), plus I had a mild case of nocturnal epilepsy between 2003 and 2004.
I have been to Neurologists and I just want to know if any of you here have been through such stuff or if you know somebody. How did you go about addressing this? It is killing me, I am starting to feel old.
Most of the time it goes away after a while, do you sit in front of a pc often, if you do, change the position of your monitor to a position differently from now, either sligthly to the right or to the left, so that your sitting angle is adjusted.
Exercise that will help:
- stand in the ease position
- keep your lower body straight and turned forward
- rotate your head from side to side
- gently at first - till warmed up
- increase your angle of rotation (especially on pinched side)
- lift your arms to the side at shoulder height and hold them out
- continue doing the head rotations with your arms now lifted and spread out
- stop
- back to relaxed position
- breathe deeply and slowly about 6 - 10 times
- shrug your shoulders up and down
- do about 10 to 15 shrugs
- now shrug your shoulder and rotate your head from side to side
- stop
- start exercise 1 again
- this time lift your hands above you head
- tip
- phantom boxing is also a good exercise
afterwards:
lie flat on your back on your bed
breathe deeply and slowly ten times
then lie for 5 minutes just relaxing the body
last tips
keep the area warm - wear a scarf
deep breathing - decreases the tension on the pinched nerve
